Lake Norman Activities

Whether you’re a passionate angler or a recreational kayaker, Lake Norman is the place to be for those who love the outdoors. During the warmer months, you can rent paddleboards, kayaks, jet skis and boats to get you out on the water. Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) has become wildly popular as a watersport activity because truly anyone can enjoy–kids, young adults, parents, and grandparents! You can get an amazing workout with friends or just take a leisurely paddle, have an on-water picnic, and enjoy the amazing sights!

If you want to try wakeboarding but don’t know how to get started, then let the pros at STP Wake guide you. Home to professional wakeboarder Stephen Pierce, this wakeboard school offers private instruction to those who are brand new to wakeboarding as well as those looking to step up their ride. It’s a great way to get on the lake and try a new sport with the latest boats and equipment.

If you want to try your hand at fishing, check out a number of guided fishing tours. Guides know where to go for the best fishing spots on Lake Norman, and they provide the equipment you need for a great experience, so all you have to concentrate on is landing that large mouth bass!

For a full day of activities that are perfect for the whole family, take a trip to Lake Norman State Park. Pedal boats, kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes are available for rent at the visitor center on Park Lake. Or if you’d rather take a dip, a swim area includes a 125-yard-long sand beach, parking area and bathhouse with concession stand, restrooms, changing stalls, warm showers and lockers. You can also fish for crappie, perch, bass and more at the fishing pier near the swim beach. The park is a favorite place to take your dog to hike (or canoe!), and it tops our list of Most Instagrammable Places in Mooresville!
